Data sources
The timetables on this site come from two open datasets, combined and presented as a single network because that is how people travel: nobody plans a journey around whether the vehicle is a bus or a tram.
Intercity bus
“Itineraries and timetables of intercity public bus services”, published by the Generalitat Valenciana — Dades Obertes in GTFS format. It is published under the CC BY 4.0 licence (Attribution), and is reused here with credit to its source, as that licence requires.
TRAM d’Alacant
The tram timetables — lines 1 to 5 and line 9 from Benidorm to Denia — are published by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana — TRAM d’Alacant in GTFS format, and are reused under Spanish Law 37/2007 on the reuse of public sector information, with credit to their source.
The processing, the merging of the two datasets, the grouping by town and the presentation are the work of this site. Neither the Generalitat Valenciana, nor FGV, nor the operators endorse it.
Municipal boundaries
The Generalitat feed only names the town for some of the stops, so the rest are located geometrically: we check which municipal boundary each stop falls inside. The boundaries come from OpenStreetMap (administrative relations for the province of Alicante), © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the ODbL.
Without this step whole towns would be missing from this site — Busot, Finestrat, Agost or La Nucía — even though the feed’s own routes serve them.
How often it is updated
The Generalitat rebuilds the dataset every day, covering the next ten days. We download and import it daily too. The latest import corresponds to 08/09/2026.
What it covers and what it doesn’t
It is worth knowing where this information stops:
- It covers intercity bus services run under regional concessions: the Generalitat Valenciana concessions that serve the province of Alicante.
- It does not cover national long-distance coach services (Alicante–Madrid or Alicante–Barcelona, for instance), which fall under the national ministry and are not part of this dataset.
- It does not cover the Alicante TRAM, the tram linking Alicante with El Campello, Villajoyosa, Benidorm and Denia. It belongs to Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana and is published separately; for those lines, check with FGV directly.
- Nor does it include town bus services — the town buses of Alicante, Elche or Benidorm — which are run by each council and not by this regional feed.
- The data does not include real-time vehicle positions: these are scheduled times, not where the buses actually are right now.
Accuracy
We publish the timetables exactly as the official source supplies them, unmodified. Even so there can be discrepancies: last-minute changes, diversions for roadworks, extra services during fiestas, or errors at source.
Spotted a mistake?
If a timetable doesn’t match reality, write to us at [email protected] telling us the route and the stop. If the error is at source, we pass it on to the Generalitat.
